January 18, 2024 Meeting Minutes

Call to Order

The General Meeting was called to order by Gerald at 12:10 pm. The meeting was held at Rose Hill Rec Gymnasium.

Members Present

Gayle Tenbrook, Ross Chappell, Gerald Amato, Trudi Mankins, Cody O'Brien, Jason Steadman, Colton Waters, Doug Mowder, Kelsey Lewis, Natalie Simmons, Evin Miller, Chuck Lambert, Liberty LeGrand, Lesa Pechant, Natalie Greenlee, and Teressa Hammond

Treasurer Report

Due to the time constraint with the 2024 Board Elections, a Treasurer Report was prepared but not given.

Marketing Report

Evin gave quick Marketing report. Lee Media, Rose Hill Pharmacy, and Rose Hill Rec renewed membership. Methodist Church has not gotten back to her about being Member of Month, so they were not the January MoM. Wichita Plumbing will be the next featured. Social Media and Web Stats were positive trending. The election reminder email was sent out, 46 people opened it, but 5 emails bounced. Evin will be sending a list of those who bounced to board to see if any need to be removed from our list. Alert 360 had good numbers for the MoM video with 586 ThruPlays, 1,586 Impressions, and 637 Reached.

New Business

Elections for 2024 Board were held. Results are as follows:

  • President: Gerald Amato
  • Vice President: Natalie Greenlee
  • Secretary: n/a
    • Natalie Simmons was nominated for position, but she declined.
  • Treasurer: Cody O’Brien
  • Membership Mentor (Member-at-Large): Gayle Tenbrook
  • Marketing (Member-at-Large): Evin Miller
  • Membership Recruiter (Member-at-Large): Ross Chappell
  • Membership Retention (Member-at-Large): Doug Mowder of State Farm Insurance
  • Events Coordinator (Member-at-Large): Kelsey Lewis

Natalie gave brief overview of the Chamber texting program, which will send reminders for Chamber specific events.

  • To sign up, text 316-395-2417 with your name and the business you are affiliated with.

The Chamber invited Chuck Lambert, Rose Hill Superintendent, as a guest speaker.

  • Previously worked in Nebraska as teacher, coach, and superintendent for 31 years before coming to Rose Hill this school year.
  • First area of focus in starting position: Working with City Police Department for cohesive plan for school security with a few updates including an officer at the Elementary front door as well as a new phone app for teachers to have that allows to notify necessary safety personal in case of emergency.
  • Bringing awareness to how many students from outside of Rose Hill township that attend school here.
    • 353 of the 1800 RH students come from 14 other towns, 143 of them are teacher’s children.
  • Second area of focus: Bond issue for facility updates that are necessary. Working with School Board to identify several areas before work begins.
  • Third area of focus: Achievements. That being in testing scores, general education curriculum, and mental health awareness so students and teachers are successful.

 

 

Open Discussion

Mixer/Open House at Truly Amazing Catering January, 18 at 6pm. Ribbon cutting will take place. Trudi gave a brief update on the space and the process it has taken to get here.

Annual Chamber Dinner will be April 18th at Morning Grit Farm. Businesses are welcome to donate a gift for raffle for recognition. Advena verbally agreed to give a donation gift for the event. Natalie will get in touch with Liberty to work out details.

As new Treasurer, Cody O’Brian needs to be added to both Chamber bank accounts, and Teressa Hammond needs to be removed.
